The Second Half

As we take on the second half of 2017, we first and foremost thank God for the first one. He faithfully took us through and hence we boldly say Ebenezer.

There are a few things we should consider as we pick up into the second half. Life needs to be partitioned so that one can be effective. Yesterday is not today and neither is it tomorrow. God has prearranged us already the separation of days, nights, seasons and so forth.

Half time and second half concept came as a result of many factors. With sport, it has been realized that one team may have been benefiting from factors such as terrain, wind direction, the sun’s rays and many more. Therefore, to achieve a fair game, the second half with changing of goal posts was adopted. Accordingly, if you have suffered unfairness through the first half of 2017, this is your chance to utilize the handicaps to your advantage.

You may have performed below your expectations in the first half but hey, the Lord has given you another half. With sport, the team that takes the field for the second half is never the same team that played in the first.

There is a lot that takes place in the locker room at halftime. The team is reminded of the game-plan, the team’s goals and dreams. As the players come out back into the field, there is always a notable shift in their thinking. They are re-energized. At times fresh legs are employed through substitution. May you be given new energy and a sharper focus in the second half journey of 2017. May you be bold enough enough to substitute ideas that did not work for you with fresh ones.

I have also noticed that the players who take to the field for the second half are more experienced than the team who played in the first half individually and collectively. They are more experienced because of the first half encounter. You shall learn from your own first half experiences. Where you must add emphasis, what you must overlook, who you should trust, the words that are to come out of your mouth and so on.

In the second half of 2017, you shall not be flat, fearful, confused or unprepared. There is going to be a turnaround. If you had no purpose or reason to feature in this second half, God would not have allowed you into the line-up. Make use of every opportunity and by December, you shall be counting your fruit.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31

Thank God for the second half.
